Our Research

The Biodynamics Lab performs research studies that span most joints in our body: the cervical and lumbar spine, hip, shoulder, knee, ankle, foot, hand, and wrist. Participant cohorts include: younger and older healthy adults, surgical patients, and individuals with abnormal gait (Cerebral Palsy adults and Transfemoral Amputees). The surgical studies are largely a joint effort between the surgeons at UPMC and the research staff at the Biodynamics Lab. We also work closely with research groups in the Bioengineering Department and Physical Therapy Departments of the University of Pittsburgh.
